Sir,

12 SEP

I very much regret to report that I have found it necessary to send Dr. Hunter this morning to the Government Civil Hospital, suffering from Alcoholism.

This is evidently a disease with him, there is an undoubted hereditary history, the exciting cause of this outbreak is the birth of a son which occurred on the 30th ultimo.

It is a distressing case as he is an able man at his work.

I have etc.,

The Colonial Secretary.
